RCCPL Private Limited, Birla Corporation’s wholly owned material subsidiary, received a show-cause notice from the Additional Commissioner, CGST and Central Excise, Jabalpur. The notice proposes recovery of alleged excess or ineligible input tax credit for FY 2022-23, along with applicable interest and penalty; the company says it believes the notice has no merit and will submit its response.

APTEL set aside CERC’s 17 March 2022 order that had disallowed JSW Hydro Energy Limited’s claim for notional interest on equity exceeding 30% infused during construction. The tribunal allowed the claim, directed that carrying cost be calculated from the true-up petition filing date until adjustment, and remanded the additional IDC data for CERC’s prudence check.
